Major Forum Changes

Hello all! Due to recent feedback from our members, we've decided to make several changes to the forum hierarchy. Starting from the top of the forum list, the changes are as follows:

Goals & Achievments is now a separate forum underneath General, and not a sub-forum as it used to be. Since this forum was much more used than many of the other forums, we felt that it shouldn't be hidden in another forum. The Marketplace has been moved to the bottom of the list of RuneScape forums. After the release of the Grand Exchange, the Marketplace has been much less inactive since most trades can be quickly done through the GE. We have more plans for the Marketplace in the future, but it will not be completely removed.

PvP Discussion has been renamed to PvP Discussion, Clans & Events. The Clans forum is now the Clan recruitment & events forum, and has been placed as a sub-forum of PvP Discussion, Clans & Events.

Stories and Poems has been moved from the RuneScape category to the Miscellaneous category. Many members wanted to post stories that were unrelated to RuneScape, but since the forum was originally intended as a RuneScape-related forum, people were confused as to whether they should post their stories in Off-Topic or Stories and Poems. Hopefully

The Support and Submissions categories have been merged into a Global-RS Feedback category. In this category, we also removed Other Global RuneScape Sections and its subforums since the Topsites and Chat have been gone for a while, and the Herald forum was inactive.

The Tutorials forum has also been removed due to inactivity, but all its topics have been moved to Tech Discussion or Non-RS Graphics forums. You can of course still post tutorials - if you have a programming or computer tutorial, post it in Tech Discussion, and if you want to post a graphics tutorial, post it in the Non-RS graphics forum.

Game Forum

Today we have added a much wanted forum for playing forum games. This forum is located as a sub forum in the Off Topic section. Please remember that post count has been disabled in this forum due to the fact that there will be many 1 word posts and spam in this forum.

Posting changes

Hello all! It has been a long time since we've changed anything in the forums, but today, we've made two changes to the posting system.

Firstly, there is now a "quick reply" button next to the reply button at the bottom of every topic, which will display a simple form you can use to post a reply without loading a separate page. It does not contain any of the advanced features - if you want to see smilies, BBCodes, attachments etc, you have to load the posting page as before (clicking "Preview" in the quick reply will also take you to the full posting page). However, you can use the smilies and BBCodes in the quick reply field if you remember them - there just won't be any buttons.

The second change is a smaller one - when you post something, you will be taken directly to your post instead of the confirmation screen you used to see (which had a "click here to continue" link).

That's all for now, and remember, if there are any new features or changes you would like to see, feel free to make a suggestion!

GRS Event #11, May 10 2008

We will all be meeting at Ardougne south bank before heading over to the agility arena. There is no specific agility level require although 40+ is reccomended. If you don't have any of the items reccomended to bring then it's best to wear nothing.The person with the most tickets at the end of the event gets a special nomination and a whopping 30k from the Events Leader!

GRS Event #10, May 3 2008

Clan Wars, world 30 (f²p)

This event starts at 8:00 pm gmt, if you are unsure of what that would be in your timezone, then click here.

Clan wars is a safe minigame, so bring your best stuff! There's a bank nearby at bounty hunter, so you can always walk there with no items, withdraw your items, and take a short walk to clan wars, if you're afraid that a revenant might get you on the way. Members may want to use a games necklace to teleport to bounty hunter and then hop to a free world, to save some time.

Don't forget to buy a team 26 cape from Richard, who is just north of Edgeville.

Items to bring along:

Your best armor and weapon

Team 26 Cape

Grs Event #9, April 26 2008

Vinesweeper (P²P) (World 78)

Farmer Blinkin has had an increase in rabbits, and has contacted Global Runescape in hopes of getting support at his farm for at least a day. Are you up for the challenge? (and the farming experience)

Vinesweeper can be traveled to using any farming leprechaun in Runescape. I would suggest that you use the tree farming patch in Falador, since the bank is right nearby. Another good location would be the patch in Catherby.

Items to Bring

*Money is used to purchase a few ogleroots and flags. Flags cost either 10 points or 500 gold each to get back. Using gold saves time, but 10 points is cheaper.

Grs Event #8, 19th April 2008

It's time for us all to see what the newest minigame, Fist of Guthix, is all about! We will meet 5-10 minutes before the start of this event on World 128 at the Fist of Guthix Cave, just north of Varrock.

There's a bank in the cave so just make sure you have all the items you need already. Food (healing bandages) and all runes are provided in the minigame itself. If you don't know how to play this game then don't worry as you will be given a tutorial by Fiara inside the cave. This minigame can be played by all lvls although the higher you are the better your chances will be.

Grs Event #7, 12th April 2008

Fight Pits! (P2P) World 64

This event will take place at the Tzhaar Fight Pits so prepare for some serious fighting. We will meet at the Tzhaar bank 10 minutes before the actual start of this event. The way we will do this is that when each round starts we'll gang up on any non-grs members before fighting amongst ourselves. If Nightmare is present at the event then we will fight amongst ourselves but without attacking Nightmare (Very Humor). This allows him to get the best possible footage for the video. The last person left standing will then fight Nightmare and most probably kill him as he isn't exactly the highest level out there.

We will all be meeting at bounty hunter, by the banker.

In this event, we will be traveling to the Wilderness to kill some Revenant Ghosts. We will be fighting any we see in a multi-combat area. If you are too afraid, you are allowed to stand back while we kill it. You are allowed to do any combat class you like (Magic, Range, Melee). Also expect another video from me

What to Bring:

Weapons/Armor of your choice.

Food (optional)

Sense of Humor

So sorry to the F2P players, we'll be sure to have a great event coming up for you guys next week. This event will be hosted by Death (Ur_Death00). Fights in one of his many combat areas, training prayer with the use of his altar or making spell tablets from either one of his lecterns are just a few.

Grs Event #3, 15th March, 2008

Falador Take-Over and Firemaking Frenzy! World 50(F2P)

Firstly off this event will be hosted by Syntax Error (Mr Bean489). Everyone will meet in Falador East Bank a few minutes before the event starts. It is time for the law to finally be obeyed so the members of Grs will rise to the challenge. Everyone will dress as guards, the items needed are listed further down the page, and we will enforce the rule of not walking on the grass and brandishing weapons in public and anything else you can think of! Afterwards everyone will go South of Falador to Rimmington. Once there it is time to whip out your hatchets and wooductting axes and start some fires! Why, you may ask? Well why not?

Grs Event #2, 8th March, 2008

Sorry for the late notice, planning to notify everyone of events on Sunday's from now on. This event will start at 8pm GMT(Sorry but we're still working on finding a good time for everyone). If you're unsure about what time this is then please click here.

This event is completely safe so there's no need to bring any armour as such. We will meet in Ardougne in the South Bank. Please arrive a few minutes before the actual event starts. We will then go South to Port Khazard where the mini-game actually is and buy the supplies there and finally we will start the mini-game. It's pretty simple so what to do will be explained during the event. Level 15 Fishing is the minimum required.

Grs Event, 1st March, 2008.

Clan Wars, World 30 (F2P)

Okay so here is the first GRS event of 2008. This event will start at 7 pm GMT so please try to make it. If you're unsure about the time zones then please click here .

This event is Clan Wars. This is a safe mini-game so there's no need to worry about losing your items if you die in this mini-game. There is no need to worry about prayer either as it is recharged after every round. So watch out for revenants on the way to and from Clan Wars unless you're a member as you can use the Games Necklace to teleport there.

This week's event is F2P on world 30. Please meet at Clan Wars a few minutes before the actual events start. Feel free to bring along all your friends and lets be unbeatable!

Things to bring:

Best armour and weapon

Team 26 cape which can be bought from Richard just slightly North of Edgeville

The clan chat will be Ur_Death00.

IMPORTANT: Server failure

Hello all. A server failure caused all data in our forum database to be reset to when it was created, which was two days ago (when we moved servers). Everything done the last two days has been lost. Because we had not yet initialized our daily backup system on the new server, we do not have any backups that can be restored on the forum.

We are really sorry about this, and we're currently trying to find exactly what caused this error. We're also trying to find out if there's anything that can be retrieved from the last two days, but we're afraid that everything posted the last two days has been permanently lost. Apparently, only the forum database was reset, so the files and the site's database was unaffected. We've also contacted our host, but they cannot give us a useful backup.

Important:
Everything has been reset. If you've changed your password the last two days, use your old password to log in now. If you've registred a new account, then you'll have to do it again. Everything posted the last two days, or sent in PMs has also been losted. Again, we're terribly sorry.

EDIT: Our backup system is up and running now and takes backups twice a day, but those backups can obviously not help the current situation.

Small Change in Forum Rules

Today we have made a minor change to rule 1 of the forum rules. It is as follows:

We want the forum's atmosphere to be as friendly as possible, but to do this, you have to help us doing so. So remember, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. This also includes media. Do not post any pictures or videos that contain vulgar language or images. If you follow this very basic rule, it is unlikely that you will need to read the rest of our rules. You should, however, read each rules' header to make sure you haven't missed anything

The change that we would like you to be aware of is pertaining to posting media, such as youtube videos and various images from around the internet. You need to make sure you are not posting anything which contains any vulgar images or language. We have had a few complaints about a few videos that have been posted recently, and this rule has been implemented to take care of that.

To the poster of those videos, please do not feel as if you are in trouble. You posted those videos in good intention I am sure, and there was no rule for it when you posted. So you don't need to worry about anything, just make sure your future videos are clean.

A Couple Reminders From The GRS Team

Hello Global Runescapers! The team has a couple things it would like to remind you of today.

First off, the staff as a whole has been discussing the emerging problem of excessive swearing which has been taking place recently on the forums. Some people have been using alternate spellings, and even alternate characters, not recognized by the censor, to say innappropriate words. This is unacceptable, and staff members will be taking more serious action against individuals who choose to swear in the future.

On a more positive note, we would like to remind you that we are always on the watch for forum members like yourself to be promoted to the ranks of moderator or honored member. The best way to get these ranks is by writing guides and submitting data for the help site. We need help to keep the site updated, especially in the items database and quest guides, so after Aliensvortex finishes re-coding the website, we are also going to be promoting our best guide writers and database helpers to the position of site editor, like [M]ike. Also, for those of you who aren't Runescape members, we need guides for the new F2P minigames and other updates. Remember, there's always something you can do to help!

Global Runescape First Ever In-game Event!

IMPORTANT: The event has switched times. Make sure you look at the timezone chart below so you know when the event will be held.

I am pleased to announce that GRS is having its first ever in game event! This is a great oppurtunity to get to know your fellow Global Runescapers and have a great time playing Runescape! Since this is the first ever planned event in the history of GRS, it will be very low key and unstructured.

Event Details:

Who: Anyone! Bring a friend, even if theyve never heard of Global-rs.com!
What: Christmas gathering and best dressed contest. (maybe there will even be some drops )
When: December 22nd. Here is a detailed chart where you can find out what time the event takes place at for your own time zone:

Where: We will be meeting atop of ice mountain in world 15. (F2P)

What to bring: Your best Christmas outfit and some extra items, and since we're all in the Christmas spirit, some extra items that you would like to share!

The GRS member with the best Christmas costume, judged by myself (or a GRS administrator if for some reason I cannot come) will recieve their choice of 6000 coal or a 1 000 000gp prize. So, dust off those old Christmas scarves and mitts and lets have a good time!
