Fishing Training Guide

Guide links:

Introduction

This guide is about fishing and how to level up in fishing. In this guide, we will show you where to fish, what to fish, what levels to fish, and what equipment you'll need.

I will also try to help raise your cooking level in the process of fishing. It won't be a first priority (it is a fishing guide) but it's important to have a good cooking level along side your good fishing level.

Levels 1-10

For the levels 1-10, there are different ways to train depending on your RuneScape status (free player or member).

What to Bring:
Where to Go:
Just south of Draynor Bank

This place is an awesome place to fish because you'll be fishing here for a little while. Basically until level 25. But for now you'll be catching shrimps with a small net. This starts out slow but eventually gets quicker. You only need to catch 116 shrimps to get to level 10 from level 1. It's really quick and simple. Just sit back and get 4 full loads and some extra shrimps after that 4th load and you'll be at level 10.

The closest bank is the Draynor bank. It should only take you a few seconds to get to the bank.

I suggest you cook your shrimp so you can get some cooking xp, unless you're at least level 30 cooking.

Catherby

This place is better than Draynor only because it's a little closer to the bank. This place is an awesome place to fish because you'll be fishing here for a little while. Basically until level 25. What to Bring:
Where to Go:
Draynor

You'll still be at Draynor but you'll be fishing sardines and herring. You'll be catching more sardines than herring though. You'll be catching sardines at a pretty good rate at the beginning and once you get in the upper 10's and into the 20's it should be real fast. You'll need around 300-350 catches depending on how many herring you get and how little sardines you get.

The closest bank is the Draynor bank. It should only take you a few seconds to get to the bank.

I suggest cooking whatever you get until you get to about level 50 cooking.

What to Bring:
Where to Go:
Barbarian Village Fishing Spot

This place is perfect to fish at. It's the best place f2p or p2p at levels 25-50. You just fish some trout/salmon and take it back to the bank in Edgeville. You'll need a lot of feathers but it works out really well. This is really fast xp and you should be doing this until level 50 because it's really hard to fish lobsters at level 40-49. So in my opinion you should just keep with the fly fishing until level 50. And this place is perfect for it. But it is a lot of fishing, so I suggest you do it in increments of 200 at a time or even 300 depending on how patient you are.

The closest bank is the Edgeville Bank.

I suggest cooking whatever you get until about level 70 cooking. And even then trout and salmon are great for training.

Levels 50-68

For the levels 50-68, there are different ways to train depending on your RuneScape status (free player or member).

What to Bring:
  • Lobster pot
  • 1000 gp (or 60 gp at a time if you can remember after each bank trip)

Where to Go:
Karamja Fishing Docks

You'll be at this place for a long time. You need 30 gp to get there, and 30 gp to leave. So bring at a minimum 60 gp. I suggest bringing a large amount of money, like 1k or something so you don't have to worry about it for awhile. This the ONLY place in f2p to fish tuna, lobsters and swordfish. So obviously it's going to be packed. But you should be able to get some lobsters at level 50. I suggest getting some of your music or something because the first 5 levels will be challenging. After that though it should be smoother. But the reward of lobsters should be really helpful to succeed in your earlier levels. Cooked Lobsters sell for 200 each! That is some good cash.

The closest bank is the Draynor bank. But you must take a ship to Port Sarim First, then walk east to the Draynor bank.

I suggest you cook these everytime unless your selling them raw (raw lobsters go for about 100 gp).

Where to go:
Catherby Fishing Spot

This spot is a fishing haven until you hit the fishing guild. There are loads of fishing spots, and a few for fishing lobs. Lobsters are in great supply here, and the bank is in spitting distance. Theres even a range for cooking your fish here. There are loads of people, but that doesn't really matter, and you might even strike up conversation with people while fishing. This place is the next best place to fish (fishing guild is a near dream place for fishing).

The closest bank is the Catherby bank which takes less than 10 seconds to get there walking.

I suggest you cook these everytime unless your selling them raw (raw lobsters go for about 200-300 gp).

Levels 68-99

For the levels 68-99, there are different ways to train depending on your RuneScape status (free player or member).

What to Bring:
  • Harpoon
  • 1000 gp (or 60 gp at a time if you can remember after each bank trip)

Where to go:
Karamja fishing docks

You'll be fishing here for the rest of your fishing life. And you'll be fishing swordfishes (also known as swordies). You can get a lot of swordies at your level and not a lot of people will be higher than you while fishing so it works out well. The only problem is that there is a lot of people there ALWAYS and that you catch tuna as much or more than swordies. But it's fine because tuna is also great training food (heals 10 HP per tuna). So just take what you get and laugh your way to the bank.

The closest bank is the Draynor bank. But you must take a ship to Port Sarim First, then walk east to the Draynor bank.

ALWAYS cook these unless you're selling raw fish, I highly suggest cooking them though.

Where to go:
Fishing Guild (north of Ardougne)

This place is amazing for fishing. It's easily the best guild of them all. You have tons of fishing spots for your enjoyment, a bank that is super close, a fish store nearby, and to top it all off... very few people! That's right, there's very few people there if any the whole day! You can fish swordies and tunas here at a faster rate then anywhere! And you can bank them incredibly fast.

The closest bank is the one in the guild. Takes about 10 seconds to get to.

ALWAYS cook these unless your selling raw fish, I highly suggest cooking them though.
